The Nutro Company, a leading manufacturer of natural* pet food products, announced today that the Fort Smith Dog Park (Louisville St. and Massard Rd.) has been selected to receive a $2,000 grant on behalf of the ROOM TO RUN™ Dog Appreciation Project.

Dancing dogs on runways were the highlight of the 16th annual Cause for Paws held Friday night by he Sebastian County Humane Society.

The event, held at the Holiday Inn City Center in downtown Fort Smith, kicked off with a happy hour at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Fur de Lis Fashion Show at 7p.m. with 10 adoptable dogs prancing their stuff on the runway escorted by care technicians from the center.

Each year, approximately 40,000 pets die in drowning accidents, according to Camp Bow Wow. Most of those accidents take place during the warm summer months and most of those accidents could have easily been prevented.
