Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Multiple Counties

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for six Arkansas counties and one Oklahoma county.

Those counties in Arkansas are: Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Logan, Scott and Sebastian.

The Oklahoma county under a severe thunderstorm warning is LeFlore county.

All of those warnings expire at 4:30 p.m.

Students And Staff Evacuated From Greenwood Middle School

Students and staff at the East Hills Middle School in Greenwood were evacuated on Wednesday (April 23) after a bomb threat was found.

The Arkansas State Police and Greenwood Police and fire department responded to the threat at 11:59 a.m.

The message was located in a female bathroom, according to a news release from the Greenwood Police Department.

A message on the school’s Facebook page said everyone was safe.

A car caught fire in Fort Smith on Friday (April 18), and authorities responded to extinguish the flames.

Arkansas Unemployment Drops Below 7 Percent

Arkansas unemployment has dropped below 7 percent.

The level is now at 6.9 percent, according to the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services website.

The website currently shows that the national unemployment rate is 6.7 percent.

Fort Smith Judge Declares Mistrial In Murder Case

Circuit Judge Michael Fitzhugh has declared a mistrial in a Fort Smith murder case.

The case of 60-year-old Kevyphonh Sounyaphong was in its third day when the mistrial was declared, according to a court official.

The jury reportedly deliberated for three hours.

Fort Smith police arrested Sounyaphong in the murder investigation of his former co-worker, Sakounsouk Vilayhong, who was found strangled in her home in January.
