Fort Smith Man Arrested for Murder at Night Club

A Fort Smith native wanted for murder has been arrested.

Police had been looking for Edward Thompson III, 31, since the Dec. 24 robbery that left Richard Ratley dead at the Discovery Night Club in Little Rock.

Thompson was arrested for capital murder without incident Tuesday evening at a residence in the 9400 block of McDonald Circle in Little Rock.

Police say Thompson was involved in several vehicle break-ins. On that night, investigators believe Thompson shot and killed the brother of a person he was trying to rob.

Officers across the state, including in Fort Smith had been looking for Thompson since the incident. His last known address was a residence in the 3400 block of Duke Avenue in Fort Smith.
