Museum to Host White Party Fundraiser | Arts & Culture
The worldwide community of museums will celebrate the 35th anniversary of International Museum Day on Friday, May 18th. RAM will commemorate this year's celebration with a chic poolside White Party fundraiser for RAM at the estate of retired K-MAC Enterprises mogul and philanthropist Mr. Kenny King.
This fundraiser is to celebrate RAM's opening, which is slated for January 19, 2013 and will bring together art aficionados and philanthropists in Fort Smith as well as the surrounding areas. Guests are asked to wear all white to show support for the cause. In addition to the spectacular views and musical entertainment of Hot Springs-based musician J.D. Chitwood, special guests will enjoy complimentary champagne, white chocolate martinis, an array of appetizers, and delicious sweet treats. RAM will feature other artistic components at the event, including showcasing cutting-edge algorithmic and wearable art.
"It's an exciting time for RAM," stated Executive Director Lee Ortega, "this event is about celebrating art and a new beginning for Fort Smith's first art museum. Even though we are much closer to our fundraising goal, we will continue fundraising so we will be able to offer the rich and diverse programming we've planned for the community."
Reservations are $150 per person and the cost is all-inclusive. Space is limited and sold on a first come, first served basis and can be secured by calling 479.784.2787 or by going online at fsram.org. Checks can be mailed to RAM, 701 Rogers Avenue, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901. Sponsorships are also currently available.
The greatly anticipated January 19, 2013 opening of the museum located at 1601 Rogers Avenue in the heart of Fort Smith marks a major turning point for this organization. Formerly the Fort Smith Art Center, located in the historic Belle Grove District for the past four decades, the new Fort Smith Regional Art Museum looks forward to expanded programming and exhibitions. RAM has raised close to 2.5M since 2009 and continues its fundraising campaign.
