Sparks Receives Stroke Quality Award

Sparks Health System is delighted to announce our commitment to providing outstanding stroke care is again being recognized.

 

The American Heart Association has awarded Sparks Regional Medical Center with the Get With The Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.  The award acknowledges the Sparks stroke care team’s success in implementing a higher standard of care by ensuring stroke patients receive treatment adhering to nationally accepted guidelines provided by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.

 

Fingerprinting available through the Fort Smith Police Department

Fingerprinting is a service provided to the citizens of Fort Smith and surrounding areas for the purpose of job applications and security clearances. Midland Bridge Lane Closures Sunday, May 5

Portions of the Midland Boulevard bridge over Arkansas River between Van Buren and Fort Smith will be closed for several hours Sunday (May 5) as crews do a routine inspection.

The work will require alternating lane closures between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.

Traffic will be controlled using warning signs and cones.

Big Guns of the Civil War Saturdays in May

Do you enjoy the thunder and smoke of Civil War cannon?  Many people do but there is much more to cannons than just the booming sound. On each Saturday in May at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Fort Smith National Historic Site will present a program about the realities faced by soldiers in battle during the Civil War and fire a replica cannon. Admission is free.

Leadership Franklin County will hold its inaugural graduation ceremony Tuesday, May 7, at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus.

The ceremony, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will be held in the Student Services Conference Center, 1700 Helberg Lane, with a reception following.
